Issue #43 Full Version (subscription required)

Editor’s Note: With the 2016 Election happening next week, the staff at the Gazette thought we would publish some questions and answers from our candidates from our district 25 legislative races. We have received numerous letters endorsing and/or repudiating candidates on the state and national level, but our policy regarding political letters to the editor is that of founding father Benjamin Franklin’s newspaper, ‘Fairness to all, favoritism towards none...’ However, we felt it necessary to keep you educated on the folks who are running for legislative "down ballot" races, so you may notice that this week’s Gazette is really, really full. These are problems we want to have, but sadly some other stories had to take a backseat with all this election news and information in this week’s issue. We did, however, get to run a very nice profile on Tom Lines, a former Vietnam veteran and beloved member of our community.

Some things you’ll be seeing next week will include photos from the Trunk or Treat events here in Garretson (some super awesome costumes). We also have a feature from the Garretson Fire Department and their activities during fire prevention week this past October as well as a story about the twelve and under soccer team. GHS Volleyball is also going to the region tournament this week just before press time so expect some more sports news and much more next week. In short, this week is almost all hard news with more fun stuff on the way.

Wondering what is happening in the Community for this week? You'll find the Community Events Calendar on page 4 in the on-line or paper version, or if you already have a subscription to the on-line paper, you can download it here! Community Events Calendar 11-3-16
