USAF Staff Sergeant Sean McPadden Returns from Deployment

12 Sept.,2021- USAF Staff Sergeant Sean McPadden returned from his second deployment to Afganistan.

The United States agreed to withdraw its Military Forces and support components from Afganistan by 31 August, 2021.  Because the Afganistan Army collapsed, and the Taliban were taking over most of the country, it became necessary to remove United States components more quickly than previously planned.

The unit to which Sgt.McPadden belongs was deployed to Afganistan.  His parents, Mike and Jean McPadden, knew only that he was on a mission, but not where he was assigned. When Sgt. McPadden’s unit got to Afganistan they were tasked with transporting U.S. troops and citizens plus many hundreds of Afhgans who wanted to leave the country to other countries by the 31 August deadline.  As the deadline approached, the many U.S. citizens and Afganistan people were desperate to depart the country.

The Unit, to which Sgt. McPadden is part of, completed its deployment and returned to its Charleston, SC. USAF Base. McPadden is also a member of Post #23 in Garretson.

Staff Sgt. McPadden plans to take some leave time later this month.
