Summer Fun so far at Blue Dragon Academy

Date:

We have had a fun and exciting summer at Blue Dragon Academy! Our staff has meticulously planned and prepared to make this a wonderful season for all children that enter our doors every morning.

Children have enjoyed water play either on our playgrounds on inflatable splash pads, baby pools and water tables in the parking lot, water balloon fights, and utilizing our local Garretson Community Swimming Pool for our older kids. Babies have enjoyed the fresh summer air on walks around town.

Our toddlers love popping bubbles on the playground, watching the garbage truck pass each week, and dance parties in the classroom. Preschool and PreK ages have loved learning through play this summer on our playgrounds turned into classrooms!     Our school agers have little down time when it’s nice out, as we are constantly on the go! With this recent storm, they selflessly chose to do some cleanup around town during their usual pool time.

We have been busy with field trips to the Sioux Falls Canaries Game, fishing at the Baum’s home, All American Gymnastics Academy, sheep shearing event at Glean for Good Farm, Camping Day at Split Rock Park, hiking at Devil’s Gulch and Palisade’s State Park, walks, picnics, outings to all local playgrounds, and enjoying delicious cinnamon rolls from Annie’s.

Speaking of eating something yummy- The meals we serve at BDA have been a hit, even for our pickiest eaters, as we started incorporating more “build your own meals.” Examples of this include children preparing their own pizzas to bake, assembling sandwiches and wraps with a Subway-replica smorgasbord, and making chef salads and taco bowls with optional toppings to choose from. Younger kids are learning to independently feed themselves with the use of silverware, and all kids continue to work on their table manners.

2022 has given us a wonderful summer so far, and we are looking forward to more fun at Blue Dragon Academy through the rest of July and August.
