Obituary: David Lee Johnson,63, of Sioux Falls

David Lee Johnson,63, of Sioux Falls formerly of Garretson went home to be with Jesus on Friday, April 5, 2019 at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls.

He was born on November 5, 1955 in Tracy, Minnesota to Russell W. and Gladys R. (Davis) Johnson.

Dave spent his childhood in Minnesota and Iowa, eventually moving to the Garretson, SD area in 1973.  He attended Garretson High School.  After high school, Dave worked various jobs around the Sioux Falls area.  He enjoyed cars and car models, playing cards, reading, listening to country music, driving the countryside, and talking with people.

David is survived by sisters Toni R. Johnson of Springville, UT and Kimberly Johnson Travers (Phillip) of Sioux Falls, SD; nephews Adam Acero (Jessica) of Springville, UT and

Matthew Johnson and Phillip Travers Jr. of Sioux Falls, SD; and niece Rachel Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD.

David is preceded in death by his grandparents and by his parents Russell and Gladys, and nephew Dominic Acero.

A private family service will be held.  Dave’s family requests that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Palisades Nursing Home in Garretson, SD.
