Clayton was born on New Years Day, 1992, in Sioux Falls, to James and Christine (Compton) Adams. He joined a busy home with three older sisters in Baltic before moving with his family to Garretson in 1994. He attended K-12 in Garretson and made lifelong friends and family. After graduating, he went on to Colorado for landscape architecture.
If you knew Clayton, you loved Clayton, he would get you to join him doing something outdoors. It started when he made sure he showed you his love for the outdoors. As soon as he could walk, he spent hours outside. At the age of two and a half, he could be found practicing casting into a 5-gallon bucket with precision, sitting under the hood of a truck with his dad, getting any tool that was called for. His toy box was filled with all the beautiful rocks he collected with a few Hot Wheels. As he grew into his early teens, he loved to help people and kids alike, by fixing chains on bikes, flat tires, and mowers and other small engines for neighbors.
So needless to say, his passions were about fishing, hunting, fast cars, good friends, pretty women and being in, on, or near water. He enjoyed spending time at Split Rock Creek, Lake Madison, the Fishing Hole or any other lakes and streams in the area with his line in the water or with his bow, spearing carp.
His search for rocks that meant something to him was something that he never quit searching for. I was a lucky recipient of some of his favorites, I hope you were a lucky recipient too. They were tokens of his love when he handed it to you.
Clayton was no stranger to showing his feelings, standing up for what he believed in and the ability to love with his whole heart.
