Legion Report for May

The Henry G. Fix Post 23 meeting opened on Thursday, May 1st at 8:02 pm.  The meeting was opened by Commander Jon Schmidt with a salute to the Colors, POW/MIA observance, the Pledge of Allegiance, and Preamble to the American Legion Constitution.  Chaplain Lampe offered the prayer.  22 members were present.

Sue Christensen was awarded the Garretson Post #23 Good Samaritan Award in April, and learned last week that she had also won the statewide award. She will be honored in Huron during the Statewide Legion Department Convention held from June 19-22. Christensen was given the Good Samaritan Award for her work with foster children, which she has done since the 1980's.
