The Garretson Art Trail has a new featured art sculpture! "The Goat" has been placed downtown, but Art Trail coordinator Kris Frerk encourages everyone to go on the hunt to locate it and asked the Gazette not to reveal its location.

"This goat found his home in Garretson. How appropriate for the community that has Goat Yoga," said Frerk.
The sweet little sculpture showcases the uniqueness around the infamous "Goat Yoga" exercise class, which is held just south of Garretson.
Goat Yoga started in 2022 as the brainchild of Garretson/Sherman residents Nikki Highby of Bee Fit Yoga and Beth Jensen of Glean for Good, and has continued to be popular into its fourth season, which began the first Thursday of May. It will be held as weather permits every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Glean for Good, which is located at 25638 487th Avenue, Garretson. Cost per class is $15 and is open to all ages and abilities.
"The Goat" sculpture was created by Chad Garnes of Honey B Design Co. from Harrisburg, and paid for by the City of Garretson. However, there's still one problem with the sculpture.
"He needs a name," Frerk pointed out. She asks all suggestions be texted to her at 605-321-1814. Please include your name with the text.
Past Art Trail installations have included the Jesse James sculpture found at the entrance to Devil's Gulch, the metal tree located in Split Rock Park, and Art Alley located between the Food Pantry and Palisades Chiropractic. Frerk has also been instrumental in setting up the Green Space on Main to welcome visitors and residents to enjoy their time downtown. Another installation will be placed soon, Frerk said.
The Art Trail is open to all to explore by picking up a brochure. Brochures from 2024's trail can be picked up at local businesses, and 2025 brochures will be released soon!
