The Minnehaha County Treasurer’s Office provides important services to the citizens of Minnehaha County. I want to take this opportunity to highlight those services to make the process as simple as possible for you when you visit our offices. The most common services are paying property taxes, renewing motor vehicle registrations, and titling new and used motor vehicles, motorcycles, trailers, snowmobiles, boats, ATV’s, and commercial vehicles. All these services can be completed by visiting our office or go to the website DOR.sd.gov, to find the forms needed to do your transaction.

Due at the end April and October, property taxes can be paid online using the Minnehaha County website. Select the link on the Minnehaha County homepage and follow the instructions. Please allow for 7-10 business days for these transactions to process.

Your individual vehicle registration due date is based on the first letter of your last name. The State of South Dakota maintains www.sdcars.org to renew your registration online. The State of South Dakota also maintains self-serve kiosks which can be found at: Get ‘N Go 5400 E Arrowhead Pkwy, Hy Vee 3000 S. Minnesota Ave., Hy Vee 4101 S. Louise Ave., and the Driver’s License Exam Station at 2501 W. Russell St. A kiosk is also available in the Minnehaha County Administration Building.

Title transfers, both in-state and out-of-state, involve additional documentation you will want to have ready. In-state title transfers require the title (with mileage) and a purchase agreement or bill of sale. Out-of-state title transfers require your social security card or W2, title (with mileage) purchase agreement or bill of sale, and weight slip (for trailers, campers, and motorhomes). Both in-state and out-of-state also require a valid driver’s license or ID.

The South Dakota Department of Revenue maintains many of the required documents you will need to bring to our office. Please check with the Department of Revenue at dor.sd.gov or call our office if you have any questions about what items you will need.
