On Monday, March 29 the Garretson FFA participated in the Tri Valley CDE’s District Qualifiers.

The teams that participated in it were: Ag Mechanics, Agronomy, Dairy Cattle, Floriculture, Food Science, Horse, Natural Resources, Poultry, and Vet Science.

During CDE’s the participant goes over their study material. This information can come from problems off of old tests and information from textbooks. They will then go to different competitions to figure out what they need to improve on and after that they go to the district qualifiers to see if they can make it to state. If they make it to state, them and their team of three to four people will go to wherever the state competition is held and compete to see if they can make it to nationals. This year’s state competition will be held in Rapid City.

Ag Mechanics placed 6th in their competition with Justin Stoterau placing the highest on the team at 12.

Agronomy placed 7th in theirs with Cade Uhlich placing the highest on their team at 15.

Dairy Cattle placed 3rd in their competition with Kennedy Houghton placing the highest on the team at fifth.

Floriculture placed 22nd in their competition and Food Science placed 6th in theirs with Gabe Johnson placing sixth.

Horse placed 16th in their competition and Natural Resources placed 20th. Poultry placed 9th in their competition with Drew Pederson placing seventh overall. Finally Vet science placed 23rd.

On April 11-13, the FFA teams will head to Rapid City for the state competition.
