AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY – SEPTEMBER

The American Legion Auxiliary met on September 2, with Cheryl Lyngen calling the meeting to order.  A potluck meal was served by the Auxiliary at 7:00 with the respective meetings beginning at 8:00.

Chaplain, Sue, led us in prayer.  Roll call of officers indicated 4 absent.  The secretary’s minutes were read, approved, and placed on file.  There was no treasurer’s report but that will be updated at our October meeting.

78 memberships have been turned in.  September 1 is the official start date for membership.  We are advised to see Linda for more information and members can renew on line as well.  Our goal for this year is currently 183.  As of today, we have 4 new members.

Diane shared that several cards were sent out.  If there are any milestones or events, please let Cheryl or Diane know so cards can be sent.

Communications were read by DaNann.  We were reminded of the District Meeting which is here on September 25.

There was one bill to pay.  The motion to pay the bill was made by Judy and seconded by Liz and the motion passed.

Liz reported that she has brought materials to the school to promote Girl’s State.

Old business included 34 backpacks stuffed with 6 dispensed the night of dispersal at the Legion.  The rest were brought to the school.

New business included the bake sale information and Rhonda will make cards to mail out with a due date of November 1 for donations.

There was mention of Make a Difference Day with more discussion to come.

Membership renewals have started.  Please pay Linda, $8.00 for juniors and $30.00 for regular members.

For the district meeting which is here on September 25, the Auxiliary  has been asked to bring desserts.  Cheryl will be contacting people.

For the district meeting on September 25, the social hour will begin at 11:00, meal at noon, and meetings at 1:00.  The theme is SMILE.  President, Noelle will talk about Mission 22.  Registration is at 12:30.  Helpers are Liz, Rhonda and Sue.  Door Prizes are needed.

On October 3 there will be an Honor Flight Fundraiser beginning at 9:00 with an omelette and scrambled egg breakfast.  After that a noon meal of burgers and hot dogs will be served.  The auxiliary  is also asked to bring desserts.  There will be free will donations.

The homecoming parade is on September 10 at 1:30.

Our next meeting is on October 7 with a meal at 7:00 and a meeting at 8:00.  There will be discussion on Make at Difference Day at that time.

Chaplain, Sue, gave the closing prayer and we concluded with the singing of My Country Tis of Thee.

The door prize was won by Sue.
