AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY – NOVEMBER, 2022

            The American Legion Auxiliary met on November 3.  Cheryl opened the meeting and chaplain, Sue led us in prayer.

            The secretary’s report was read, approved and placed on file.  The treasurer’s report was read, approved and placed on file for audit.

            Cheryl reported that membership is now at 142.

            Bingo was held on October 12 with 7 volunteers helping and 20 residents participating. 

            Rhonda and Liz presented 34 dictionaries to students at the elementary school in October.

            Wini Iverson gave a presentation to both the Legion and Auxiliary.  She expressed her caring and respect for Veterans, especially Vietnam participants and explained the mission of a deceased friend.  Her thanks and respect as well as wishes for healing for all were very well received.

            District 7 fall meeting was held in Sioux Falls in October.  Kathy reported that the presenters stressed the need for communication at all levels.

            Denise reported that a sizeable gift shop donation has been given by the ladies bible study group of Faith Lutheran in Sioux Falls.

            DaNann reported on trunk or treat at Split Rock Park.  She said it was a beautiful night and a very fun experience.

            Veteran’s Day is November 11.  We will be serving meals to 8 veterans and 2 wives at Palisade HealthCare.  The meal at the legion will be at 6:00 with the program at 7:00.

            November 9-13 is education week and Judy has delivered apples to be given to 76 employees at the school.

            Cheryl handed out certificates to members for notable years of service. Our next bingo at Palisade HealthCare is on November 9 at 2:15.  Volunteers are needed.

            Our next meeting is December l.  We will designate a Christmas donation as well as participate in a dice game and lunch.  Kathy moved that we give a free will donation to the food pantry.  Motion was seconded by Sue.

            Sue closed the meeting with prayer and the door prize was won by Waneta.
