Movies in the Park Has Successful First Weekend

Date:

The band Queensland performed prior to the movie on Saturday, May 26

Last Saturday, May 26, the Garretson Parks Board and Grow Garretson had their first ever "Movies in the Park" with Cars 3. The evening started with music performed by local band Queensland, which could be heard throughout Splitrock Park.

"It couldn't have gone better, especially for our first one," said Parks Board member Kelli Schleuter.

"The Movies in the Park began as a 'pie in the sky' idea from [Renovation Church Pastor] Tyler Ramsbey and [Grow Garretson member] Richelle Hofer, and thanks to several great sponsors and a grant from Alliance Communications, it came down to earth pretty quickly," said Grow Garretson member and Parks Board member Carrie Moritz. "Thanks to them, we're able to provide five great movies at Splitrock Park this summer, as well as a shuttle bus and pre-movie entertainment."

Next month's movie will be "Wonder," brought to you by Nordstrom's Auto Recyclers, during Jesse James Days on June 16. Gold Star Kettlecorn will be selling its popcorn prior to the show.
