Movies in the Park Start Next Weekend

Date:

As part of the efforts to encourage the community and visitors to enjoy Garretson's parks, the City of Garretson's Parks Board, in conjunction with Grow Garretson, will be offering five activity nights at the parks this summer.

Each of the activity nights will include "Movies in the Parks," and the Parks Board and Grow Garretson are working with sponsors to also provide musical entertainment, crafts, a mobile zoo, and more. A shuttle will be provided, so all participants are asked to park at the school parking lot and use the shuttle to prevent disruption to the campers in the park.

The first activity night, which was to be held on May 12, was postponed to May 26 due to weather. This night will include musical entertainment by Queensland, an invitation to have a picnic in the park (bring your own food and beverages), and the movie, "Disney's Cars 3." The movie is made possible by a generous sponsor, Virg's Welding, and a grant from Alliance Communications. Movies will start at dusk.

The rest of the movies this summer will include "Wonder," "Barnyard," "Jumanji," and "Despicable Me 3." Grow Garretson and the Parks Board are excited to plan surrounding events for each of these nights.

Grow Garretson is also planning Second Saturdays for July, August, and September, and encourages the local businesses to contact them to set up their events and activities for those evenings.
